Grandparent's 55th Wedding Anniversary
My family decided to throw an Anniversary dinner for my grandparents for their 55th anniversary since we did not do anything for their 50th. In hind sight we are happy that we did since my grandfather died before their 60th anniversary. We choose a place called Alban's Garden which is the hall at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia.
Alban's Garden had everything that we were looking for. It was a beautiful hall with plenty of windows and french doors overlooking the grounds. We were able to have our own caterer and use the kitchen for light preparations. They do not have an onsite caterer but they can provide you with a list of caterers to choose from.
Round tables and chairs as well as long tables (that you could use for setting out food for a buffet) were included in the price. Speaking of price it was VERY reasonable.
There is a separate entrance for the hall so you do not need to walk through the church to get to the banquet room. Plenty of parking spaces were right outside the door.
A piano, sound system with microphone and movie screen (that came out of the ceiling at the touch of a button) were all available to use. We actually used them all to sing some songs for my grandparents and then show a powerpoint slide presentation that we had put together for them.
We were told that the playground outside of the hall was available in case the children wanted to play but we didn't use it since it was December and quite cold outside.
There are restrooms and a dressing/sitting room for the bride (if using for a wedding) in the hall outside the room.
We had a very pleasant experience while touring the facility before we booked the venue through using the hall for the Anniversary dinner. They had someone there to help us with anything that we needed the day of the event. Everyone we encountered there was very nice and the event was a huge success. We would use Alban's Garden again.
