Candles: Budget friendly decorations

by Rhonda Allen
(Atlanta, Georgia)

Candles, candles, candles. They are short, tall, round, square, colored, plain, scented, unscented - the choices are limitless. With all this versatility, they are really the one wedding decor item that you can add to any space and create warmth, light and depth.

Many Brides think of those little itty bitty votive or tealight examples. What we are suggesting is they use the thicker, 2", 4", 6" pillar candles. These make a statement, without breaking the bank. One of the wonderful things about these is that you can find the candles and holders at the local dollar store. Wow!!!

To add elegance to your candle, wrap a piece of satin (wide ban) ribbon around it. Or, glue mini-crystals or pearl embellishments around the middle and you have the perfect, yet inexpensive accent to your table.

Depending on your table decor design, set one tall, central pillar with shorter ones as complements. Or, if you have flowers as your focal arrangement, set shorter candles in clear, frosted, or colored candle holders. We like to use candles that are at least 2" tall.

Whatever you choose, candles are a great way to create an inviting table setting at an inexpensive cost.

Happy planning!

Cheers!
