Save Money with
Cheap Wedding Ideas

Brides (and grooms) are always looking for cheap wedding ideas to help save on the expenses they incur for their special day.

When I say cheap I don't mean shoddy or dinky, I am talking about inexpensive wedding ideas to help reduce the money spent on everything necessary to throw a beautiful wedding.

One of the money saving ideas that I had for a friend's wedding was to rent out the chapel of the elementary/middle school that I attended as a child.

It was a venue that I knew could accommodate a wedding and reception even though it was not normally rented out to the public.

I contacted the principal and was able to get the Chapel, Tables & chairs, A/V system, Kitchen for only $150.

Most of us only consider places for a wedding reception that advertise as wedding facilities but thinking outside the box can really pay off.

Another one of many cheap wedding ideas that couples have been using is to have a close friend or family member handle a particular element of the wedding that might normally be done by a professional.

For example, recently I put together the boutonnières, corsages and bouquets for my cousin's wedding that I also happened to be coordinating.

I was able to do seven boutonnières, two corsages, one bride’s bouquet, five bridesmaids bouquets and one toss bouquet for less than one hundred ($100) dollars.

That cost included the flowers and additional supplies like floral tape and ribbon.

The two photos above, courtesy of Timothy Lui Photography, are of the bouquets that I put together  for my cousins wedding. We had originally planned to use lilies but they would not open. So at the last minute (that morning) I went to a local produce market and was able to put these together. The bouquets were placed on a half moon table in front of the head table for decoration.

It could easily cost one hundred dollars just for the bride’s bouquet from a florist.

I was able to cut costs by buying most of the floral supplies online from Ebay and got fresh roses from a place in the Northeast called Produce Junction.

Many farmer's markets and produce market's like Produce Junction sell beautiful fresh flowers for a lot less than you could get them for at a florist.

If you have a membership at a wholesaler like BJ's or Costco, they sell low cost bulk fresh flowers as well.

Just make sure that the person or people helping you with your flowers, food, cake, invitations or other wedding element have the ability to do a professional job at an amateur price.
