Don't Be Afraid of the Dollar Store

by Cathy
(San Francisco)

My friend wanted fancy favors for her wedding, but didn't want to pay too much. It was a mid-sized wedding, about 80 people. We went to the dollar store and bought organza bags (12 to a package) and filled them with chocolate mints bought in bulk from JellyBelly.com

Using The Print Shop program (you can also use MS word), we printed up business cards with the couple's name and wedding date, and punched a hole in the corner to attach the card to the bag using the drawstring. To spruce up the business card, we bought 3-D scrapbook stickers from Michael's (Joleens's brand) and put a sticker on the opposite corner of the tag. Note: Make sure that you adjust your text and font size so that you will have enough room for both the hole and the sticker. The stickers were probably the most expensive part, but one package can go a long way, since you are only putting one sticker on each card.

The total cost was about $30, with the bulk being the stickers. You can fill the bags with whatever you like, so your cost may be substantially lower. The maid-of-honor (who is a professional artist) commented on how fancy and professional the favors looked.
