Find a venue for a wedding reception

Deciding on the venue for a wedding reception can be hard to do since it is one of the most important decisions you will make while planning your wedding. You need to make sure that the facility will be big enough to hold all of your guests, so you need to come up with a preliminary guest list before you make this decision. Take a look at the different options that you have when you're trying to find the venue for a wedding reception.

Hall

Many churches and schools have halls that are available for rent. You might even find a fraternal organization or social group that has hall rentals. Halls tend to be cheaper to rent and might also allow you to bring in your own food if you don't want to pay for a caterer and want to put together most of the reception yourself.

Banquet Facility

A banquet facility specializes in catered events. They are usually more expensive than halls but tend to be more nicely put together. Banquet facilities do not normally allow outside food so you need to find out if you like the food that they offer before you book the space. They might even have a list of vendors that they normally work with to make your planning a little easier.

Hotel

Most hotels offer banquet rooms and catering. They may provide linens and even a cake just like a banquet facility. The event space may not be as nice as one found at a banquet facility depending on the type of hotel that you choose. The one advantage to having your reception at a hotel is that you can likely book rooms for yourself and your guest at a discounted rate.

Outdoor location

A beautiful venue for a wedding reception could be a location outside. You could choose a place near a garden, beach, waterfall, or another beautifully landscaped area. If you have a big enough property, you could even have your reception in your backyard. One disadvantage to this option is that you can't control the weather. Even if you have a tent, the reception could turn out horribly if there is a really bad storm.
